Jesus My Love – a Haiku poem
I wrote this Haiku poem after an intense session of Contemplative Prayer.
The Prayer of Longing is our wordless desire for God.

Many Christians have dedicated a special time of day when they pray. But the Bible calls us to pray continually.
For most of us, our prayer-life consists of words. Maybe we say them spontaneously. Maybe we say them from memory. We pray by saying words. And lots of them.
Living within each of us are desires. We desire this; we long for that. Our desire for God can be called the “Prayer of Desire.”
The Story of a Soul (l’Histoire d’une Âme) is the autobiography of Thérèse of Lisieux (1983-1897). She is probably the most loved Christian writer of all time.
John of the Cross wrote a book called “The Living Flame of Love.” He was near the end of his life and at the very peak of mystical experience.
The concept of Contemplative Prayer can be difficult to understand. But in Psalm 63, David provides a great description:
John of the Cross wrote “The Dark Night” in 1578 or 1579 as a guide for spiritual development and mystical prayer.
St. Teresa of Ávila wrote “The Interior Castle” in 1577 as a guide for spiritual development and mystical prayer.
