Develop wholesome thinking patterns

As lovers and disciples of the LORD God, we are called to develop wholesome thinking patterns. We are to renew our mind.

Training our way of thinking does not happen automatically. It is a deliberate process. How can you develop more wholesome thought patterns?

Proverbs 12:25. Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.

Proverbs 15:15. All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.

Lamentations 3:21. This I recall to my mind; therefore I have hope.

1 Maccabees 13:17. And Simon knew that they spoke to him deceitfully; and he sends the money and the children, lest perhaps he should procure to himself great hatred of the people,

1 Maccabees 14:9. The ancient men sat in the streets, they communed all of them together of good things, and the young men put on glorious and warlike apparel.

Sirach 37:22. There is one that is wise to his own soul; And the fruits of his understanding are trustworthy in the mouth.

Matthew 15:19. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

Romans 8:5. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Romans 12:2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV translation)

Ephesians 4:23. and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

Philippians 4:8. Finally, my brothers, as I bring this letter to a close, let me say one more thing. Fix your thoughts on what is good and true and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for, and be glad about it. (The Living Bible translation of 1971)
