Food and Clothing

Most Christians are as materialistic as anybody else. But the Bible calls us to be content with food and clothing.

 


 

Sirach 29:21. The chief thing for life is water, and bread, And a garment, and a house to cover shame.

Philippians 4:12. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (NIV translation)

Philippians 4:19. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

1 Timothy 6:7. For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.

1 Timothy 6:8. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Hebrews 13:5. Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”
