Psalm 133

When people live together in unity.

WHEN PEOPLE LIVE TOGETHER IN UNITY

A Song of Ascents. By David.

NOTE: The term “A Song of Ascents” identifies psalms 120 to 134 as pilgrim songs to be sung when the Israelites “ascended” (went up) to Jerusalem for the annual feasts.

VERSE 1. See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!

1 Timothy 2:8. I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.

VERSE 2. It is like the precious oil on the head, that ran down on the beard, even Aaron’s beard; that came down on the edge of his robes;

ran down on the beard. The oil of blessing overflowed from Aaron’s beard.

Exodus 29:7. Then you shall take the anointing oil, and pour it on his head, and anoint him.

Some people refer to blessings in that way. God blesses them so abundantly that it overflows from their own life into the life of others.

VERSE 3. like the dew of Hermon, that comes down on the hills of Zion: for there the LORD gives the blessing, even life forever more.

life forever more. That is, eternal life.
