rejoice in him who made them. We are called to a life of joy.

Joy is our God-given heritage. We can rejoice in our maker.

We believe that joy is not so much a feeling inside of us as it is a behavior. We are to act joyfully.

We do joyful things, on purpose.

Then our feelings might follow our behavior, like a caboose following a locomotive.

VERSE 3. Let them praise his name in the dance! Let them sing praises to him with tambourine and harp!

the LORD delights in his people. Many Christians labor under a heavy burden that God is against them. However, the Bible tells us God delights in his people! Read more »

He crowns the humble with salvation. Moses was very humble—more than any person on earth. But in our day, very few Christian leaders are humble. Congregations destroy leaders who are humble. Read more »

rejoice in honor. That is, have joy and glory.

The LORD God calls us to rejoice in the glory he has given us.

Has God given you anything at all? Then you have cause to rejoice!

sing for joy. The Bible speaks of God’s people shouting aloud for joy.

But in our day, we’re reluctant to shout out, much less shout out about how God gives us joy. This is to our detriment.

In our day, we see an example this when Muslims shout the Takbīr, “Allāhu Akbar!” That means, “God is great!”

Why aren’t Christians shouting such things? We would do well to imitate their shout of joy, for it is biblical to shout aloud the praises of God.

VERSE 6. May the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

high praises of God be in their mouths. Many believers do not have the praise of God on their lips.

That is, except in very limited settings such as at church. At church they sing in a perfunctory way.

But outside of church, they don’t speak praise to God.

VERSE 7. To execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples;
