VERSE 1. His foundation is in the holy mountains.
VERSE 2. The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
the gates of Zion. That is, “the gates of Jerusalem.”
VERSE 3. Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. Selah.
VERSE 4. I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me. Behold, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia: “This one was born there.”
those who acknowledge me. These five nations will acknowledge the One God.
was born there. These Gentiles are being counted as among the Jewish people.
VERSE 5. Yes, of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one was born in her;” the Most High himself will establish her.
VERSE 6. The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples, “This one was born there.” Selah.
VERSE 7. Those who sing as well as those who dance say, “All my springs are in you.”
NASB translation: “Then those who sing as well as those who play the flutes shall say, “All my springs of joy are in you.” ”
NLT translation: The people will play flutes and sing, “The source of my life springs from Jerusalem!”
ICEL translation: “While they dance they will sing: “In you all find their home.” ”
