The joy of the LORD is your strength

Some Christians have a sad face and a somber demeanor. We wish they could know the joy of their Lord. Holiness is marked by joy. Joy equals strength!

 


 

It is time to rejoice!

Take off the robes of mourning and misery and lamentation. Put on the new robes, the many-colored robe of joy and peace, contentment and victory.

 

Ezra 3:11. They sang to one another in praising and giving thanks to the LORD, “For he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever toward Israel.” All the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the LORD’s house had been laid.

Ezra 3:12. But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ households, the old men who had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. Many also shouted aloud for joy,

Ezra 3:13. so that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people; for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard far away.

Proverbs 23:20. Don’t be among ones drinking too much wine, or those who gorge themselves on meat:

Isaiah 12:6. Let your voice be sounding in a cry of joy, O daughter of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you. (BBE translation)

Isaiah 65:18. Instead, there shall always be rejoicing and happiness in what I create; For I create Jerusalem to be a joyand its people to be a delight; (NAB translation)

Nehemiah 8:10. Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Nehemiah 12:43. They offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced; for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women and the children also rejoiced; so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even far away.

1 Maccabees 4:56. And they kept the dedication of the altar eight days, and offered burned offerings with gladness, and sacrificed a sacrifice of deliverance and praise.

Sirach 13:26. A cheerful countenance is a token of a heart that is in prosperity; And the finding out of parables is a weariness of thinking.

Baruch 2:23. And I will take away from you the voice of mirth, and the voice of joy, and the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, and all the land shall be without any footstep of inhabitants. (DRA translation)

Galatians 5:22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,

Philippians 4:4. Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! (NAB translation)
