The Right Hand of God the Father

The Bible often mentions “the right hand” of God. That is a position of power and honor. We believe it refers to Jesus Christ.

 


 

Exodus 15:6. Your right hand, LORD, is glorious in power. Your right hand, LORD, dashes the enemy in pieces.

Exodus 15:12. You stretched out your right hand. The earth swallowed them.

Psalm 16:8.  I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Psalm 16:11. You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.

Psalm 17:7. Show your marvelous loving kindness, you who save those who take refuge by your right hand from their enemies.

Psalm 18:35. You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great.

Psalm 20:6. Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed. He will answer him from his holy heaven, with the saving strength of his right hand.

Psalm 21:8. Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you.

Psalm 44:3. For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.

Psalm 45:4. In your majesty ride on victoriously on behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness. Let your right hand display awesome deeds.

Psalm 48:10. As is your name, God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.

Psalm 60:5. So that your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.

Psalm 63:8. My soul stays close to you. Your right hand holds me up.

Psalm 73:23. Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.

Psalm 74:11. Why do you draw back your hand, even your right hand? Take it from your chest and consume them!

Psalm 77:10. Then I thought, “I will appeal to this: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”

Psalm 78:54. He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken.

Psalm 80:15. the stock which your right hand planted, the branch that you made strong for yourself.

Psalm 89:13. You have a mighty arm. Your hand is strong, and your right hand is exalted.

Psalm 98:1. Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

Psalm 108:6. That your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.

Psalm 110:1. The LORD says to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.”

Psalm 118:15. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. “The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

Psalm 118:16. The right hand of the LORD is exalted! The right hand of the LORD does valiantly!”

Psalm 138:7. Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.

Psalm 139:10. Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.

Ecclesiastes 10:2. A wise man’s heart is at his right hand, but a fool’s heart at his left.

Sirach 47:5. For he called upon the Most High Lord; And he gave him strength in his right hand, To kill a man mighty in war, To exalt the horn of his people.

Isaiah 41:10. Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:13. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’

Isaiah 48:13. Yes, my hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spread out the heavens. when I call to them, they stand up together.

Isaiah 62:8. The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, “Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies; and foreigners will not drink your new wine, for which you have labored;

Lamentations 2:3. He has cut off all the horn of Israel in fierce anger. He has drawn back his right hand from before the enemy. He has burned up Jacob like a flaming fire, which devours all around.

Lamentations 2:4. He has bent his bow like an enemy. He has stood with his right hand as an adversary. Has killed all that were pleasant to the eye. In the tent of the daughter of Zion, he has poured out his wrath like fire.

Habakkuk 2:16. You are filled with shame, and not glory. You will also drink, and be exposed! The cup of the LORD’s right hand will come around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

 

Matthew 20:23. He said to them, “You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with, but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”

Matthew 22:44. The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?’

Matthew 25:33. He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Matthew 26:64. Jesus said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”

Mark 10:40. “but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.”

Mark 12:36. For David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.” ‘

Mark 14:62.  Jesus said, “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky.”

Mark 16:19. So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

Luke 20:42-43. David himself says in the book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, 43 until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.” ‘

Luke 22:69. From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.

Acts 2:33.  Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

Acts 2:34. For David didn’t ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by my right hand

Acts 5:31. God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

Acts 7:55.  But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

Acts 7:56. and said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

Romans 8:34. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Ephesians 1:20. which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,

Colossians 3:1.  If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.

Hebrews 1:3. His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Hebrews 1:13. But which of the angels has he told at any time, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?”

Hebrews 8:1.  Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

Hebrews 12:2.  looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Peter 3:22. who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

Revelation 1:16. He had seven stars in his right hand. Out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.

Revelation 1:20. The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lamp stands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven assemblies. The seven lamp stands are seven assemblies.

Revelation 2:1. “To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write: “He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks among the seven golden lamp stands says these things:”

Revelation 5:1. I saw, in the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals.

Revelation 5:7. Then he came, and he took it out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne.
