NOTES

1. The Bible sometimes refers to locations or people-groups by using female terminology. We ignored all such instances. Examples: Ariel, Egypt, Israel, Jerusalem, Samaria, Tyre, vineyards, virgin daughter of Zion.

2. The Bible sometimes mentions things a woman might possess. We ignored all such instances. Examples: anklet, ankle chain, beauty, bracelet, cape, charm, cloak, earrings, garment, hair, headband, headdress, linen, mirror, necklace, nose ring, perfume, purse, ring, robe, sash, shawl, tiara, veil.

3. The Bible sometimes mentions the names (or functions) of female body parts without referring to an actual woman. Example: breasts, give birth, womb.

4. The Bible often uses words that are culturally associated with female behavior, but without applying them to an actual woman. Examples: compassion, tender, delicate, conceive.

5. The Bible sometimes uses titles of female “occupations,” but without applying them to an actual woman. The words are usually used as a pejorative. Examples: adulterer, prostitute, sorceress.

6. The Bible sometimes mentions a god from another nation. Some of those were female. We ignored all such instances. Example: Ishtar.

I was given a great gift. It is to be passionate about Jesus Christ and the Bible and the spiritual life. I am a Christian believer. I believe in Jesus Christ. I’m in love with Jesus! I believe the Bible. I love the Bible. For decades, I've been reading it cover-to-cover, again and again and again. I’ve memorized a whole lot of Bible verses. Most of all, I want the Bible to help us fall more deeply in love with God the Father, with Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, with other people, and with ourselves. And I've been reading the great writings from the entire Christian heritage for decades. At Explore the Faith, I share what I have discovered.
